The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom es la vigésima entrega de la saga The Legend of Zelda. Fue anunciado oficialmente con su título definitivo el 13 de septiembre de 2022 y estrenado mundialmente el 12 de mayo de 2023.[1]
El juego se lanzó originalmente para Nintendo Switch, pero con la llegada de Nintendo Switch 2 recibió el "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack", un contenido descargable de pago que añade mejoras en resolución, rendimiento, tiempos de carga reducidos, soporte HDR y las funciones que ofrece la app Zelda Notes disponible en la Nintendo Switch App. Nintendo también lanzó una versión física especial de Nintendo Switch 2 que ya incluye estas mejoras sin la necesidad de adquirir el Upgrade Pack por separado.[2]
Es la secuela directa de Breath of the Wild y destaca por permitir la exploración de tres niveles del Reino de Hyrule: La Superficie, El Cielo y El Subsuelo.[3]
